A CITY to MAKE ME - TRANSHUMAN FUTURE?

A CITY TO MAKE ME - SYNOPSIS

The City is the world, a world filled with NOISE––a virtual ocean, a digital jungle. Set in and around a dystopian fictionalized City in the year 2035, unemployment, class warfare, and hyper-commerce provide the social backdrop in which a job-hungry data-miner, David Phoenix, attempts to survive. A CITY TO MAKE ME follows the psychological journey of a man exposed to deep politics and dark power as he becomes a Transhuman agent for the revolution, fighting against an all-powerful corporation on the verge of total information control.

Sexy.

Thus far we've received the first rough drafts of User Interface graphics and a CG set from Team Argentina, concept art for background plates from the Midwest, more CG sets from Phoenix, and our coupe de grace, the Shanghai Technoarts scene, is on its second draft. Ladies and Gentlemen, this film is looking sexy!

James Taylor of Swayzak/Lugano Fell on Soundtrack....

James Taylor aka Swayzak/Lugano Fell has officially taken on the music soundtrack for the film! The European-based electronic music artist is world-renowned within electronic music communities, from dance to experimental. His music Is blurring the lines between dream and reality.

His music has inspired a serious re-think and re-tooling of the current edit. If the new edit can come close to the mood and feeling inspired by the music, then it will be an amazing experience, quite unlike anything else I've seen or heard in the cinema.

Burning...

We've been hammering away at HQ, burning the midnight oil, and laying down the track. Thus far, we have the first full-length rough cut of this beast with a program running time of...11 minutes and 26 seconds. The opening title sequence is in the works and making a lot of noise, in all the right ways.

Progress...

Editing continues. To date, I've cut together the final 6 minutes of the film for 'picture lock.' The experience of working with the footage, painting moments, tuning into the subtleties of gesture and body language, has been therapeutic. I'm thinking about the strength of the soundtrack as I cut the film to some of the most beautiful ambient music I've ever heard.  If you haven't tuned in to THIS, do so:

Academy of Thrift - Arxicon Mixtape by _type

I have the classic Director fear of not achieving the same mood and tonality in the final soundtrack.  That fear subsides when I think about the insane talent that surrounds this project as a whole.  If we haven't met that composer yet, I'm sure we will.

It's been a ride. Thank you for joining us. More to come.
